Gas Stations Along the Route (in travel order, from OpenStreetMap)
OpenStreetMap lists no gas stations along this route. There may really be none, or none may have been mapped. Check your fuel level before you leave.
Distances between stations are approximate values calculated along the route geometry (only gas stations within 500 m of the route are counted). OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers, so stations may be missing or closed; check business hours on site. On remote stretches, plan your fuel carefully rather than relying on this data alone.
Elevation Profile (Lishan Elementary School ⇄ Dayuling; highest approx. 2585 m, lowest approx. 1950 m)
The horizontal axis is distance along the route; the vertical axis is elevation (the height scale is exaggerated, so slopes look steeper than they are). Dots mark cameras (tappable) and stations. Elevation is estimated from AWS terrain data; tunnel and bridge sections are interpolated between their ends, so errors of several tens of meters are possible. For planning reference only.
Map
After opening the map, use the buttons to toggle layers. Dot colors follow the estimated road surface; tap a dot to see weather and the camera. Rainfall, temperature, and wind are from the nearest station to each point; road surface moisture is an estimate. Gas stations, stores, restaurants, and attractions come from OpenStreetMap and only include places near the route; check business hours and conditions on site. For closures and traffic control, rely on the Highway Bureau live traffic information ↗. The route line runs from Lishan Elementary School to Dayuling, joined from the OpenStreetMap road network. This is the roughly 29-km stretch of Provincial Highway 8 running west from Dayuling to Lishan, between the Hehuan Mountain Highway (Highway 14A) and the eastern Central Cross-Island Highway and Highway 7A (Yilan branch). Dayuling connects to Highway 14A and to Highway 8 east toward Hualien; Lishan connects to Highway 7A and is the main way toward Fushoushan Farm and Wuling Farm.
The page uses eight Highway Bureau cameras and roadside weather. Distances follow the Highway 8 mileposts, counting down from 110.5K at Dayuling to 81.5K at Lishan.
Highlights & Attractions
The road runs through high mountain gorges with steep walls, river valleys, and highland farms. Around Lishan you will find temperate fruit and Indigenous villages. Fushoushan Farm, Wuling Farm, and similar places are detours off the main road and need separate planning.
Typical Weather
At high elevation in a gorge, the weather changes fast and afternoon clouds often fill the valley. During a strong cold snap, water left in shaded sections can freeze. The page’s surface condition is an estimate from nearby weather stations, not a measurement; verify on site.
Riding Tips
The geology here is fragile, with frequent slope work and precautionary controls. Check the latest Highway Bureau traffic announcements before you go. This site does not judge closures, rockfall, or construction release times.
Farm trucks are common and may cut corners, and mud or sand sometimes covers the road, so slow down and keep right. Sort out supplies at the two ends: no gas stations or convenience stores were found in between.
