Gas Stations Along the Route (in travel order, from OpenStreetMap)
- ⛽ 山隆加油站 (24 hours)
Distances between stations are approximate values calculated along the route geometry (only gas stations within 500 m of the route are counted). OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers, so stations may be missing or closed; check business hours on site. On remote stretches, plan your fuel carefully rather than relying on this data alone.
Map
After opening the map, use the buttons to toggle layers. Dot colors follow the estimated road surface; tap a dot to see weather and the camera. Rainfall, temperature, and wind are from the nearest station to each point; road surface moisture is an estimate. Gas stations, stores, restaurants, and attractions come from OpenStreetMap and only include places near the route; check business hours and conditions on site. For closures and traffic control, rely on the Highway Bureau live traffic information ↗. The route line runs from Luofu to Guanxi, joined from the OpenStreetMap road network. Roma Highway is a roughly 34-km mountain stretch of City Road 118 between Luofu in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, and Mawudu/Guanxi in Hsinchu County. Expect rolling grades, hairpin bends, and valley views. It can be combined with Highway 7B, the Northern Cross-Island Highway, and Highway 3 for a full-day ride, or done as a half-day out-and-back trip.
No Highway Bureau cameras are available along the main mountain stretch; Taoyuan City cameras are on the lowlands. This page uses a Highway 7 camera at the Luofu/118 junction and roadside weather from Xikoutai, Kuihui, Gaorao, Mawudu, and Guanxi.
Highlights & Attractions
- Luofu: Yixing Suspension Bridge, other bridges, and Dahan River views. Use designated parking and do not stop on bridges to take photos.
- Xikoutai, Kuihui, Gaorao: Valley and Indigenous community scenery. Check visitor arrangements and respect private spaces and residents.
- Mawudu and Guanxi: Mawudu forest scenery and Jin Xian attractions; some forest recreation areas require detours. Food is available in Guanxi.
Typical Weather
Afternoon fog and rain are common; fall and winter may be cold and damp. Shaded curves can stay wet after rainfall, and fallen leaves, mud, and patchy pavement may affect traction. Dry weather at either end does not mean the middle is dry.
Riding Tips
Some sections are so narrow that vehicles must yield to pass. Never overtake without clear visibility. Watch for tour buses, farm vehicles, and oncoming traffic. Before riding downhill in wet conditions, check your tires and brakes. Do not stop in front of homes, on bridges, or on narrow shoulders. Shops are scattered; rely on Luofu or Guanxi for fuel and essentials.
