Gas Stations Along the Route (in travel order, from OpenStreetMap)
- ⛽ CPCapprox. 290.7K /
- ⛽ CPCapprox. 336.2K /
Distances between stations are approximate values calculated along the route geometry (only gas stations within 500 m of the route are counted). OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers, so stations may be missing or closed; check business hours on site. On remote stretches, plan your fuel carefully rather than relying on this data alone.
Elevation Profile (Zhongpu ⇄ Nanxi; highest approx. 916 m, lowest approx. 98 m)
The horizontal axis is distance along the route; the vertical axis is elevation (the height scale is exaggerated, so slopes look steeper than they are). Dots mark cameras (tappable) and stations. Elevation is estimated from AWS terrain data; tunnel and bridge sections are interpolated between their ends, so errors of several tens of meters are possible. For planning reference only.
Map
After opening the map, use the buttons to toggle layers. Dot colors follow the estimated road surface; tap a dot to see weather and the camera. Rainfall, temperature, and wind are from the nearest station to each point; road surface moisture is an estimate. Gas stations, stores, restaurants, and attractions come from OpenStreetMap and only include places near the route; check business hours and conditions on site. For closures and traffic control, rely on the Highway Bureau live traffic information ↗. The route line runs from Zhongpu to Nanxi, joined from the OpenStreetMap road network. The southern section of Highway 3 runs about 70 km from Zhongpu in Chiayi County to Nanxi in Tainan, via Dingliu, Yunshui, Apo Bend, Dapu, and the Zengwen Reservoir area. A long series of mountain curves makes it a favorite among southern Taiwan riders. Apo Bend is particularly winding and popular on weekends. This page includes eight Highway Bureau cameras.
Highlights & Attractions
A well-known riding destination in central and southern Taiwan, with reservoir scenery and the historic Yunmi military access road near Apo Bend.
Typical Weather
Usually warm or hot, with brief afternoon showers possible in the mountain areas.
Riding Tips
Blind corners and successive curves require care. Roadside photographers are common around Apo Bend; never cross double yellow lines for a photo. Watch for slippery pavement after rain.
