Gas Stations Along the Route (in travel order, from OpenStreetMap)
- ⛽ CPC
- ⛽ CPC
Distances between stations are approximate values calculated along the route geometry (only gas stations within 500 m of the route are counted). OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers, so stations may be missing or closed; check business hours on site. On remote stretches, plan your fuel carefully rather than relying on this data alone.
Elevation Profile (Changhua ⇄ Nantou; highest approx. 423 m, lowest approx. 23 m)
The horizontal axis is distance along the route; the vertical axis is elevation (the height scale is exaggerated, so slopes look steeper than they are). Dots mark cameras (tappable) and stations. Elevation is estimated from AWS terrain data; tunnel and bridge sections are interpolated between their ends, so errors of several tens of meters are possible. For planning reference only.
Map
After opening the map, use the buttons to toggle layers. Dot colors follow the estimated road surface; tap a dot to see weather and the camera. Rainfall, temperature, and wind are from the nearest station to each point; road surface moisture is an estimate. Gas stations, stores, restaurants, and attractions come from OpenStreetMap and only include places near the route; check business hours and conditions on site. For closures and traffic control, rely on the Highway Bureau live traffic information ↗. The route line runs from Changhua to Nantou, joined from the OpenStreetMap road network. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
There are no public cameras along this route that can be viewed directly on the web. This page only provides weather along the route and estimated road surface moisture. Below are scenic live streams from nearby attractions; they show the sky and cloud cover but not the road surface.
Items labeled “Scenic Live Stream” are YouTube live streams from scenic area headquarters under the Tourism Administration. They show scenery, not the road surface, so they are only useful for checking the sky, clouds, and sea conditions. Streams occasionally go offline or change address.

County Road 139 climbs onto Bagua Mountain from Changhua City, then follows the ridge south through Yinhangshan, Tonganliao, Zhangkong, Shicuoping, and Hengshan before descending to Nantou City. The route is about 31 km long, combining rolling turns and views; it is suitable for both motorcycle rides and slower sightseeing. No Highway Bureau cameras are available along this county road, and local cameras around Bagua Mountain cannot currently be viewed reliably on this site. Weather stations provide the condition estimates.
Highlights & Attractions
Bagua Mountain’s Great Buddha, views across the Changhua Plain near Yinhangshan, Hengshan’s hawk-watching platform, and the tea-growing areas around Songboling farther south. The shaded “green tunnel” has changing light and roadside activity. The Sky Bridge at Houtanjing requires a detour. Spring tung blossoms and fall/winter Taiwan golden-rain tree colors vary by year.
Typical Weather
The ridge is often windier than the plains, with strong sunshine on clear days, possible crosswinds in exposed areas, and afternoon convective showers. Shaded curves, intersections, and leaf-covered pavement may remain slippery after rain. Weather can differ between the Changhua and Nantou ends.
Riding Tips
This is a public road, not a dedicated motorcycle or bicycle course. Watch for cyclists, farm vehicles, local traffic, turns, and vehicles stopping near attractions. Do not stop in a travel lane or around curves for photos. Control speed downhill, fuel up before climbing, and carry water in summer.
